Terrible or not, it will never improve (aka have any chance at all) unless actually written. What terrifies me profoundly, and makes me find time to sit down and write, is the limited time we all have. I sort of talk myself into a "it's now or never" type of mindset, and then get some work done.
An excellent piece on how to combat such thoughts, and thus "take the wind" out of the so-called "Writer's Block". And in my opinion, I think Writer's Block should be better named,
"My Personal thinking which blocks me from writing well."
I use the "stream of consciousness" approach. In other words, I sit down and just start writing. I find that by doing that, the things that get into the document initially are the ideas, not necessarily the written perfection we seek. Once that very rough draft of ideas is complete, then I go about spell checking, grammar correcting, story adhesion (i.e. does it all fit together?) and so on. If the project is a large one, these steps happen with each chapter or section.
So, unless your mind works differently, that approach might work.

THAT'S WHY PEOPLE SAY, THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS WRITER'S BLOCK - i.e. IT’S NOT A DISEASE, IT’S JUST OUR WARPED THINKING!
I am tortured with this constantly. Thank you for the encouragement.
